Exploring the English Noun Phrase is a collection of material used over the years in eaching English grammar to Italian students at a pre-intermediate and intermediate level. In its conception the book places emphasis firmly on the needs of the Italian learner of English.
It covers in particular difficult areas such as word order within the noun phrase, notional and grammatical noun/verb agreement, the use of the definite article, the various genitive forms, noun + noun constructions, post-modification, relative clauses, lexical density and the packaging of information, and the replacive pronouns.
The book may be seen as a practical grammar, in which the theoretical/descriptive framework goes together with a practical component, thus making it very useful as a class course-book. Each grammar topic is accompanied by clear explanations, abundant examples and carefully-graded exercises of transformation, completino and translation.
A key to the exercises is provided.
