I summarize in this book my experiences as a teacher and scientist who spent more than 60 years at the University of Padova in Italy to describe the path I undertook to achieve the goal well described in the title of the book: HOW TO REJUVENATE AT 80’s. The readers will find in the ten chapters, the beginning of my research activity and the serendipitous events of my dedication to skeletal muscles in animal models and patient together with inspirers, collaborators and pupils. Some collaborations provided exciting results, the majority frustrations. Nevertheless, this is the normal ratio in Translational Studies from Basic Science to Medicine. Despite many failures, I continue to think that it is enough to have dreams and the great fortune to test them by rigorous scientific approaches. Two of them found a happy end during 2023: 1. The European Journal of Translational Myology achieved a decent 2.2 Impact Factor; 2. Even though I turned 80 on February 23, 2023, I continue to be a much younger person thanks to an active lifestyle that includes exercising every day as soon as I wake up. Only the world champion Master Athletes are at their peak performance, all the other elderly people, especially those who lead a sedentary lifestyle, are far from being so. Thus, it is always possible to rejuvenate by training (that is, to increase physical performance). Chapter 10 describes a modality that can be performed independently at home, training all the major muscle groups, is safe (most of exercises can be performed in bed) and, I underline, it is for free.
